DOWSETTMAYHEW were instructed, in conjunction with Crowther Architects Associates, to secure planning permission for the development of the global headquarters of an aviation distribution company in a rural location, close to the primary road network in West Sussex.
The site comprised a redundant and derelict former battery chicken enterprise with egg processing facility. Planning permission was secured for the demolition of the existing buildings and comprehensive redevelopment of the site to provide some 13,500m2 of commercial floor space, comprising a mix of storage and distribution facility and supporting offices.
Extensive pre-application negotiations with the Local Planning Authority and key stakeholders resulted in a planning application that was fully supported by Planning Officers and Local Politicians.
DOWSETTMAYHEW undertook lead negotiations on the application with the Local Planning Authority and key stakeholders. We prepared supporting justification for the scheme, including a Town Centre Impact Assessment of the proposed scheme on the vitality and viability of a nearby town and employment centre; required by legislation for schemes of over 5000m2 office floorspace.
