The site lies within the sensitive North Laine Conservation Area. Development required expansion of existing floor space through the change of use of neighbouring residential properties.
DOWSETTMAYHEW were instructed as lead planning consultants and were tasked with securing retrospective consent for development.
In submitting a robust planning application with supporting evidence, we successfully demonstrated that there was adequate retail need in a sensitive manner such that it would overcome the Council’s objections.
DOWSETTMAYHEW were successful in securing a planning permission under delegated powers with no conditions attached to the consent. Therefore the retail provider was able to continue with his business.
