Project Description

Location: Great Tangley Manor
Project: Heritage & conservation

DOWSETTMAYHEW Planning were asked to advise on a site where previous planning consultants had failed to achieve a successful result. In reviewing the case, DOWSETTMAYHEW Planning applied a pragmatic approach and subsequently secured consent for the change of use of redundant Grade II Listed Barns to residential use.

The application met with substantial local objection and the planning application was initially refused,. The consent was issued following a successful planning appeal. DOWSETTMAYHEW Planning were the lead consultants in both the planning application and appeal, where there was a partial award of costs against the Council.

The development will result in the long term viability of a heritage asset within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. DOWSETTMAYHEW Planning worked closely with the client’s Architect, Landscape Architect, Transport and Ecology Consultants, in order to secure the appropriate consents.
